AXIS Announces New Head of School

Xiamen, China (April 8th, 2022) – The Achieve Xiamen International School (AXIS) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Mr. Bill Pearson has accepted the Board’s offer to become the next Head of School and his transition has already started. Mr. Pearson has an incredibly strong background and experience in international school leadership and administration, curriculum development, technology integration and class instruction, school facility development, and school finance, to name just a few. He has been working as Head of School as well as in top leadership or consultant roles in multiple IB and AP schools all around the world and for the International Schools Services (ISS) community. Mr. Pearson is succeeding Mr. Matthew Doige, who will remain Director of School Development of ISS Asia Pacific Office and Secondary Principal of Shekou International School (SIS). 

Mr. Greg Smith, the legal representative of AXIS and Vice President of ISS Asia Pacific, shared, “This announcement really gives the whole Board great pleasure. ISS has always brought experience and expertise to international school management. There is no one better than Mr. Bill Pearson to showcase both experience and expertise. The optimism that we all have for AXIS is something that Bill has also seen. He will bring knowledge gained in some of the very best schools in the region. He will also bring great enthusiasm, a love of learning, and lots of energy to grow our school together with the community. I am very excited to welcome Mr. Bill Pearson to the AXIS community and can’t wait to introduce him and his wife, Anita, to you in person. We are working to ensure he is here in Xiamen with us as soon as possible.” 

Mr. Matthew Doige added, “Bill Pearson is well known in the ISS international community and has had a hugely successful career at tier 1 schools across many continents, including Singapore American School and International School of Beijing. I am enormously excited that someone of Bill’s qualifications and experience will join the AXIS team next year.
