The first AXIS Parent-Child Field Day was held on Saturday 21st May at an outdoor campsite located in Haicang, Xiamen. It was entirely organised and run by the AXIS PSA for all the AXIS families and the AXIS staff members. It was a fun and great day to remember as it has marked an important cornerstone of the AXIS community-building.

Community has always been at the heart of AXIS culture. It has always been a shared understanding between the AXIS team and the AXIS families that only when there is a strong AXIS community can we best support the learning and growth of our children.

We would like to share the passionate speech Mr. Gary Bradshaw, the AXIS principal made at Field Day. Once again, a huge thanks to our PSA members for the seamless organisation and wonderful onsite service!

Speech from Mr. Gary Bradshaw:

“ I have to say it is quite delightful to be able to get all our AXIS dragon families together for this lovely event.A big thank you to the PSA executive committee and all our PSA members and to all the families and staff that have joined us here today.Matt of course sends his apologies as I know he would have liked to have been here.There is little doubt this has been a challenging year for AXIS.

The inaugural year of any school is about laying a strong foundation. This is challenging enough in normal times, but more so in this time of covid.

This year we have had many ups and downs and we’ve had to pivot and switch, while at the same time doing our best to remain focused on the learning and growth of our children.

In a school, it is always about the journey, not the destination. AXIS has come through this year stronger and more determined. We have powered up and pulled out of the station and we are very excited to be on our way.

Next year there will be changes and further commitments in teaching and learning. We intend to start the year strong and with a solid purpose.

We have an amazing team of dedicated teachers and staff and we will be joined by more incredible teachers this August.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank parents and students for their ongoing support of the school as we go from strength to strength in the coming years.

Thanks once again to our very committed and supportive PSA community for their tireless work to help make AXIS a great place for children and a great place for learning.
