They grow more assured in their singing\, dancing\, storytelling\, and public speaking skills. \nAs we celebrate the fifth year of hosting the winter concert\, it has become a cherished tradition. Students invest significant effort in practice and rehearsal\, learning the value of perseverance and witnessing their progress over time. \nNow\, let’s take a moment to enjoy the highlights of the show and see how our students will surprise you this winter! \nIn Primary School\, students showcased what they learned in the classroom through their musical programs. Their performances highlighted Christmas stories and traditions while also illustrating their creativity. \nIn Secondary School\, students formed their own bands and treated us to beautiful festive songs. We not only witnessed their performances but also celebrated their teamwork\, creativity\, and joy. They truly shined on stage when they enjoyed what they were doing. \nAll students\, from ECC to Grade 12\, brought a strong festive vibe that made us look forward to the holidays. SUMMARY:Meet Ancient Syria:   A Secondary Art Adventure  中学艺术之旅——遇见·古叙利亚文明
DESCRIPTION:On December 16th\, our middle and high school students embarked on an inspiring educational journey to the Xiamen Museum’s exhibition\, “Narrating Civilization: Syrian Antiquities.” For Middle School Social Studies and Art students\, as well as our Pre-AP\, AP Art\, and Ceramics students\, this was an opportunity to step into a world where history and art intersect. They encountered nearly one hundred artifacts that tell stories tens of thousands of years old\, ranging from statues and tablets to early writing systems. The experience sparked genuine fascination\, with many students expressing surprise at the advanced craftsmanship\, symbolism\, and engineering evident in objects created millennia ago. Standing before artifacts previously seen only in textbooks helped them connect classroom learning to the tangible history of human creativity and innovation. \nThe visit was rich with cross-curricular opportunities. For our Middle School\, High School Art\, and Ceramics students\, it served as a class in curation and presentation techniques—perfectly timed as our Ceramics class prepares to create and present its own first exhibition. Our AP and Pre-AP students connected the experience directly to their projects. One AP student\, exploring the concept of rewilding and nature reclaiming human-made objects\, found inspiration in the weathered artifacts and the exhibition’s themes of civilizational rise and decline. Pre-AP and Middle School Art students reflected on their recent projects\, which often appropriate historical art styles\, through this new lens. \nA major highlight was the opportunity to visit all of the museum’s other permanent and special exhibitions. This allowed students to delve into local history\, trace the ceramics heritage of renowned centers like Dehua and Jingdezhen\, and appreciate exquisite traditional Chinese paintings. These additional viewings provided a powerful comparative perspective\, enabling students to exchange cultural understandings and reflect on the commonalities and contrasts between these artistic traditions and their own. As they moved through the galleries\, students actively compared early Syrian pieces to later works\, discussing how civilizations evolve in their art\, technology\, and storytelling. They asked thoughtful questions about ancient tools\, materials\, and what the artifacts revealed about daily life and belief systems. \nA poignant symbol of deep historical ties was a Ming dynasty blue-and-white porcelain plate inscribed in Arabic—a fitting illustration of the ancient trade and cultural exchange between China and Syria. \nWe are proud of our students for engaging thoughtfully with this world-class exhibition. In-person experiences like this\, which connect classroom learning to the wider worlds of art and history\, make these concepts relevant and vividly alive. The event\, provided a dynamic and challenging platform for students to engage in diplomatic dialogue and debate on pressing global issues. \nThe AXIS delegates represented their assigned nations with exceptional poise\, thorough research\, and diplomatic skill. They actively participated in committee sessions\, delivering compelling speeches\, negotiating complex clauses in draft resolutions\, and building consensus among their peers. \nThe conference was marked by a particularly outstanding achievement for the AXIS community. Kinzley\, a 9th-grade student\, was awarded the coveted Best Delegate gavel in her SPECPOL (Special Political and Decolonization Committee) committee. This remarkable accomplishment is a testament to her in-depth research\, persuasive public speaking\, and masterful command of parliamentary procedure. Competing against seasoned delegates\, Kinzley’s performance demonstrated a maturity and diplomatic acumen that truly set her apart. \nThe entire AXIS delegation is to be commended for their hard work and for representing our school’s values. As the final and most prestigious round of the competition\, participation is reserved for students who have successfully qualified at one of the 2025 Global Rounds.This year\, three AXIS Secondary School students G7 Joanna\, G8 Wilson and G8 Adrian proudly represented our school at Yale. DESCRIPTION:On November 1\, the AXIS PSA held this year’s annual Parent-Child Field Day at Tianzhu Mountain. The cool morning air greeted parents\, students\, and teachers as they arrived for the cross-country race. The group warm-up on the grass brought energy and laughter\, setting a lively tone for the day ahead. \nRunning Together \nWhen the signal sounded\, runners set off along a route that wound through forest trails and gentle climbs. Teachers\, parents\, and students shared the same path — some chatting\, others focused on their pace. The sound of footsteps\, laughter\, and cheers echoed through the hills\, turning the run into a shared experience rather than just a competition. \nThe family run brought a special energy. Parents and children started together\, faced the same route\, and crossed the finish line hand in hand. For the students\, it was a challenge completed with pride; for parents\, a chance to rediscover their children’s resilience and rhythm beyond the classroom. \nBeyond the running route\, the open field became a lively gathering spot. Parent volunteers set up stalls with grilled sausages\, lemon tea\, smoothies\, and fruit soup\, adding a sense of warmth and community. After finishing their runs\, students gathered by the stalls to rest\, while parents and teachers exchanged conversations. The blend of activity and interaction filled the space with energy. DESCRIPTION:Last week\, AXIS proudly hosted its annual College Fair\, welcoming over 50 university admissions officers to our campus. Representatives from leading universities across the United States\, United Kingdom\, Australia\, Europe\, and Singapore met with our Secondary students and their parents to discuss academic programs\, campus life\, and the admissions process. \nThe event created an inspiring and supportive space for students to explore diverse higher education pathways and gain valuable insights into their future studies. Many AXIS students shared how meaningful it was to engage directly with the university representatives. These conversations broadened their perspectives\, encouraged them to explore new destinations\, and helped them refine their academic and career goals. \n \nBeyond the main exhibition\, a series of mini-sessions led by university representatives offered in-depth guidance and practical advice for both students and parents. \nAs students reflect on what they learned\, we encourage all AXIS high school students and families to connect with our college counselor\, Ms. Gina\, to continue discussing their plans and aspirations.At AXIS\, we believe that every conversation about the future opens a world of opportunity—and we’re here to help our students take their next steps with confidence and clarity. \nWe extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this event possible — our dedicated staff\, the visiting university representatives\, and the many parents and students whose enthusiasm and participation made the College Fair a true success. \n\n上周，在AXIS举办的海外大学展，全球50多所来自美国、英国、澳大利亚、欧洲及新加坡等地的大学代表齐聚校园，与我们的中学生及家长面对面交流，分享了关于学术课程、校园生活和大学申请的宝贵信息。 \n活动现场气氛温馨而充满启发，学生们在轻松的氛围中探索多元的升学途径，深入了解未来的学习选择。许多AXIS学生表示，能与大学招生官面对面交流是一段非常有意义的经历。这些对话不仅拓宽了他们的国际视野，也激发了他们对未来的热情，让他们更加明确自己的学习方向和目标。 \n \n除了主展区外，大学代表们还举办了多场小型专题讲座，为学生和家长提供了实用的申请建议和升学指导。 \nAXIS鼓励所有高中学生与家人积极联系升学指导Gina老师，探讨自己的升学规划与梦想之路。在AXIS，我们相信，每一次关于未来的交流，都是打开世界之门的重要一步。愿每位学生都能在探索与成长中，找到属于自己的方向与信念。我们衷心感谢所有促成这场海外大学展的人——感谢辛勤筹备的学校团队、远道而来的大学代表，以及每一位积极参与的家长与学生，让这场活动真正成为一次充满意义的相遇。

DESCRIPTION:Under the soft glow of candlelight\, the very first AXIS Candlelight Music Recital unfolded as an evening filled with courage\, beauty\, and heartfelt inspiration. \nOne by one\, students stepped onto the stage—some performing solo for the very first time. Each note they played was more than music; it was a reflection of their dedication\, focus\, and the quiet confidence that grows from encouragement and care. The hall was filled with warmth and pride as families and teachers watched these young musicians share their hearts through sound. \nFrom the gentle keys of the piano to the lively rhythm of drums\, from the grace of the violin to the breath of the flute and the charm of the accordion—every performance told a story of growth. It was not only about musical achievement\, but about perseverance\, creativity\, and the joy of expressing oneself. \n \nBehind every performer stood the steady love and support of parents and the guiding hands of teachers. Their patience\, belief\, and countless hours of practice together made this evening possible. This interaction aimed to ease their transition and build confidence as they step into their new academic environment. \nSecondary students were guided by current AXIS students on tours around the school. This initiative helped newcomers familiarize themselves with key locations\, including restrooms and locker areas\, ensuring they felt comfortable navigating their new surroundings. \nA significant highlight of the day was the introduction of the Toddle app\, an essential communication tool for parents. Led by our IT Director\, Mr. Said\, new parents participated in a session that demonstrated the app’s features\, empowering them to connect effectively with the school and stay updated on their children’s progress. \nAs the 2025-2026 school year begins\, the New Family Day marked a successful step in welcoming families to the AXIS community.
