Happy First Day of School! 开学第一天🎒✨

August 12, 2026 marked the first day of SY 26–27!

Bright and early that morning, our Head of School and Primary and Secondary Principals were at the school gate to welcome students back to campus. With warm greetings, waves, and high-fives, they helped kick off the first day with smiles and excitement.

Parent Welcome Session

To begin the new school year, our Head of School, Dr. Michael Allen, hosted a welcome session for parents, bringing families together to connect and learn more about AXIS.

During the session, he shared the school’s mission and vision and emphasized the importance of strong partnerships between school and families. At AXIS, we believe that working closely with families plays an essential role in supporting the success and growth of every student.

Parents were also encouraged to share their own experiences and perspectives on different approaches to school-family partnerships. It was a valuable opportunity for open communication, meaningful exchange, and face-to-face connections between our Head of School and families.

Meanwhile, Secondary students gathered in the auditorium for a welcome session led by the Secondary Principal, Dr. Matt, who introduced key information about the curriculum and schedules for the new school year. Students even got up and danced together to celebrate the first day!

After the gathering, Secondary students headed to their classrooms to meet their teachers and participate in a variety of icebreaker and team-building activities.

In Primary, students also spent time getting to know their classmates and building connections. Each class worked together to develop their Essential Agreements, which students then signed as a shared commitment for the year ahead. Through these activities, students began building a strong sense of belonging and community from day one.

Back to School Night

At AXIS, Back to School Night has become a special tradition at the beginning of each school year. It provides parents with an opportunity to visit campus, meet their child’s teachers, explore their learning environments, and learn more about the curriculum, assessment, and ways they can support learning at home.

In Primary, parents met with homeroom teachers, learning partners, and subject specialists, including PE, Music, and Art teachers. Teachers shared learning goals, approaches, and expectations for the year, while parents had the opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas.

In Secondary, after meeting with subject teachers, parents also had the opportunity to explore the wide range of electives available this year. In the gym, they moved between different information tables, spoke directly with teachers, and learned more about each elective through introductions and informational materials.

What a wonderful start to the new school year—a week filled with connection, communication, collaboration, and plenty of excitement!

一大早，总校长和学部校长们便来到校门口迎接学生。亲切的问候、热情的挥手，还有一个个充满活力的击掌，让新学年的第一天在欢笑与期待中顺利开启！

家长欢迎会

新学年伊始，总校长Dr. Michael Allen特别为家长们举办了一场欢迎会，邀请大家齐聚一堂，在互相交流的同时也进一步了解AXIS。

活动中，总校长与家长们分享了学校的使命与愿景，并强调了学校与家庭建立紧密伙伴关系的重要性。在AXIS，我们始终相信，与学生家庭保持紧密合作，是支持每一位学生成长与成功的重要一环。

家长们也分享了自己对于不同家校合作模式的经验与看法。通过开放的沟通与真诚的交流，总校长与家长们有了更多的互动，相互了解的机会，也让家校之间的连结更加紧密。

与此同时，中学部的同学们齐聚礼堂，参加由中学校长主持的新学年欢迎会。会上，中学校长Dr. Matt介绍了新学年的课程设置、时间安排等重要信息。为了庆祝开学第一天，学生们还一起随着音乐舞动起来，在轻松欢乐的氛围中开启新学年！

欢迎会结束后，中学部学生回到各自的教室，与老师见面，并通过丰富有趣的破冰与团队建设活动认识彼此、建立连结。

在小学部，学生们也通过各种互动活动认识新伙伴，建立新的连结。各个班级还共同讨论并制定了属于自己的班级公约，学生们郑重地签下自己的名字，作为对新学年的共同承诺。通过这些活动，也让学生们从开学第一天起便逐渐建立起对班级和学校社区的归属感与集体意识，一起迎接新学年的学习之旅。

返校之夜

在AXIS，“返校之夜”已成为每个新学年开始的一项传统活动，让家长们有机会走进校园，与孩子的老师面对面交流，参观孩子日常学习的环境，了解新学年的课程设置、评估方式，以及如何在家中更好地支持孩子的学习等信息。

在小学部，家长们与主班老师、助教以及体育、音乐、艺术等学科老师见面交流。老师们向家长介绍了新学年的学习目标、教学方式与学习期待，家长们也可以提出问题、分享想法，在沟通与交流中进一步加强家校之间的连结。

在中学部，与学科老师见面交流后，家长们还有机会了解本学年丰富多样的选修课程内容。在体育馆里，选修课老师们站在各自的展位旁，而家长们穿梭其中，听取课程介绍，阅读相关资料，深入了解不同课程的内容与特色。

新学年的第一周，在连结、沟通、协作与满满的期待中顺利起航！
